Samsung has announced its latest mobile processor, the Exynos 8 Octa 8890. Samsung’s latest Exynos 8 chip is built on the company’s 14nm FinFET process technology.
The Exynos 8 Octa 8890 is the first chip that has Samsung’s custom-designed CPU cores based on a 64-bit architecture, with 4 big custom cores, along with 4 small ARM Cortex-A53 cores. Samsung says the new Exynos 8 Octa 8890 will offers a 30% improvement in performance compared to the previous Exynos 7 Octa and also be 10% more power efficient.
Samsung’s latest Exynos also integrates a new LTE modem inside, which is capable of an insane 600Mbps download, and 150Mbps upload on Cat 12, and Cat 13. The new Exynos 8 Octa 8890 also has support for full 4K with 4096×2160 and WQUXGA (3840×2400), so maybe we will get a 4K display on new smartphones.
