The first picture of GTX 1080 Reference PCB has been out, revealing 5+1 power phases with DrMOS chips taking power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. For comparison, the GTX 980 had 4+1, and GTX 980Ti comes with 6+2 phase VRM.
We also see the 8 GDDR5X chips total of 8GB of memory. The GDDR5X ships are smaller than GDDR5 ones. Also, the screw holes are same as the previous card so those who already have custom coolers or brackets for AIO cooling solutions, should able to use their existing cooling solutions.
