Intel’s upcoming 6-core, 6-thread Coffee Lake CPU has been spotted in the SiSoftware database. The CPU is an early production sample which might be the first 6core i5 series CPU which will compete with AMD’s Ryzen processors which also has 6 cores in the same price bracket.
This 6-core, 6-thread CPU features 1.5 MB L2 cache (256 Kb per core) and 9 MB L3 cache with 3.5 GHz clock speed. Though if Coffee Lake keeps most of Kaby Lake’s design – which it will – then this chip should feature something along the lines of 12 MB L3 cache. The reduced amount of cache seems to scream at a disabled chip, but this could also be a case of a reporting error.
As this chip only presents six threads for 6 physical cores which indicate it should be a Core i5 processor, and if it is ani5 than the i7 may feature may come with 6 cores and 12 threads thanks to Hyper-Threading. Right now not much information is available, but we will definitely getting higher core counts on new Intel’s chips to counter AMD Ryzen. We will keep you updated as soon anything more comes up.
