Intel Launches 24-core 48 threads Broadwell-EX Xeon CPU

Intel has launched a new Broadwell-EX Xeon CPUs, with up to 24 cores and 48 threads by the new flagship Xeon more performance than two Broadwell-E 6950X 10-core CPUs.

Broadwell-EX Xeon

Intel Broadwell-EX built on new 14nm processing node, which allows Intel to fit more transistors into a smaller space, possible to increase core counts.  The previous Haswell-EX series of CPUs only offered 18 cores and 36 threads, where now its 24 cores and 48 threads. The Broadwell-EX Xeon will be supported by existing Intel E7 v3 platforms with a BIOS update.

Broadwell-EX Xeon 1

The Broadwell-EX Xeon had 32 PCIe 3.0 lanes each and designed to be used in Multi-socket configurations. This CPUs can be used in up to 32 socket configurations with third-party node controllers. Wheres Intel is supporting up to 8 socket configurations natively. But an eight-socket configuration using Intel’s 22-core Xeon E7-8890 v4 would feature a total of 176 total CPU cores.
