Intel is celebrating its 40 years’ anniversary of its 8086 processor, with a special edition Core i7-8086K based on socket LGA1151 processor. The special about this chip is, this will be the first Intel CPU to come with a maximum Turbo Boost frequency of 5.00 GHz, out of the box.
The Core i7-8086K expected to be based on same 14 nm “Coffee Lake” silicon, with 6-core/12-thread, rather than 8-core. The new chip is spotted on Pre-launch listings with retail SKU bears the part number “BX80684I78086K.” The listings put a price tag of around $486. The new Core i7-8086K will be compatible with Intel 300-series chipset motherboards. Intel could unveil the Core i7-8086K at the 2018 Computex next week.
