AMD Ends Driver Development For Non-GCN Radeon Cards

With launch of Crimson Edition Driver and Redeon Setting, AMD has ended driver development for non GCN(Graphics Core Next) Radeon graphics cards. Series of DirectX 11-compatible Radeon HD 6000 and HD 5000 series graphics cards are no longer get new driver updates and AMD move them to legacy support.

The last WHQL-signed driver that users of HD 6000 and HD 5000 series can use is Catalyst 15.7.1 WHQL and those who want new Radeon Software Crimson Edition, they have to use Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta which has legacy GPU support. AMD says they will focus on driver development solely toward GPUs based on its Graphics CoreNext architecture, which is Radeon HD 7000 series and above.
