AMD is known for some of the most interesting retail packagings. Earlier today the first images of the 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper Retail Box were spotted.
The new box features a rounded-rectangular front and rear side. A large acrylic window on the front, with polygonal bellows leading up to an inner case that shows off the processor as the centerpiece.
The first unboxing video of Threadripper 2 accidentally posted, though the original video has, in the meantime, been taken down, but of course, whatever hits the web, stays in the web, and screenshots abound that give us a taste of what to expect.
The unboxed processors are the 16-core Threadripper 2950X, and the sexier, 32-core Threadripper 2990WX. Reviewers will receive an additional dummy processor for display purposes.
The new Threadripper 2 looks identical to the first generation Threadripper silicon, housed in a plastic tray which looks like a high-tech shuttle from the future. Inside we can see some stickers and mounting bracket. One thing is for sure, AMD does know how to pack its flagship chips.
